Installation
Tips
Select
location of deck carefully - check for access or obstructions.
Carefully plan and measure the area precisely.
Direction of deck boards will establish joist direction.
Joist centres determine the clear span dimensions
- these distances must not be exceeded (see table).
If deck is to be higher than 800mm off ground, seek professional
advice.
All cut endsledges must be weather sealed.
For best results fix boards with self-tapping stainless steel
screws.
Finished deck should be kept clean and for good looks, resealed
every year.
IMPORTANT
When cutting or drilling timber always wear a mask or work in a
well ventilated area.
We now
offer a Q-Deck How to Build a deck CD ROM. This offers a good guide
to building decks with step by step videos to help you on your way.
The CD is now available to purchase from all stockiest of Q-Deck

Balustrade
guidance
|
| If
a deck is constructed 600mm or more above ground, a balustrade
is required with a handrail at a minimum of 900mm height.
No opening is permitted greater than 100mm. Thus, spindles
need to be spaced at approximate 120mm centres. Allow
8 spindles every metre of handrail. |
